v7ndotcom elursrebmem - The Google Ass Kicking Continues

Yahoo is now showing over 400 results for v7ndotcom elursrebmem. Google has managed to return some news and blog search results, but nothing in the organic listings.

Many people are speculating that they are intentionally omitting results, but a random sampling of the Google cache dates of the pages in Yahoo’s results indicates that it’s just poor crawler performance.

Here’s an example.

Yahoo’s cache is from today, but Google’s is well over a week old. Kind of suprising considering the PR of the site and the amount of new content that gets added on a daily basis.

I agree that Google’s been slowing down. Their search results haven’t reflected the changes in link structure of upgrading my site to WordPress 2.0.

Nonetheless, it is one day since your entry and Google has 12,600 search listings for v7ndotcom elursrebmem.

Funny that you posted a link to that DC. I have noticed recently that the cache data for that DC has been all over the place. Sometimes showing old cache dates (two weeks older than other DCs) or no cache data at all for a site that is in the index. I noticed this because the SearchStatus Firefox extension I use was always pulling cache data from that one DC. I don’t know if that is something SS does or Google does. But, today it appears that it is in line with the other DCs’ data, at least for the page in question. Might want to keep an eye out for that if that DC comes up in your checking in the future.

This may be an indication they are about to release the “big daddy” update. They have a lot of resources but they do have limits sometimes they need to move them over to an update.

    Hey Greg,

I’ve been watching this too. It looks like Google turned it around today… over 12,000 results compared to Yahoo’s 1,200.

I think the real story here is MSN. They still have no results!

How can a search engine be considered relevant if it takes them days to spider a phenomena (even if it’s a manufactured phenomena).

Got something to say?
