User Registration Issues

I’ve received a couple of emails from people saying they tried to register so they could comment, but they never received their password. Apparently I have some WordPress bugs to work out. So for now, I’ve turned off the registration function.

Greg,
I’ve run into the same problem with my Wordpress blog. I wonder if there is a bug within Wordpress?
I also wonder if there is a better way to handle comment spam so that my users don’t have to register for the blog. Or perhaps a way to check and see if the user is a part of another database table (ie: my mailing list) and approve their comments automatically?
Any ideas?
Thanks for the great blog.

I just upgraded to WP 2.0 beta, so it’s possible it’s a new bug. However, I think the problem I’m having was around in 1.5 as well. My registered users-to-coments ratio seemed way out of wack.
Right now, I have it set up so that I only need to approve the first comment someone makes. After that, they shouldn’t have any problems.
Testing as well. If you see this, it means you can post without registering.
Yep this was me, tried to register many times and thought I would trick your ass for not letting me in and come in from a different IP. Guess what, it worked! =) So, I thought to myself, “this guy is an ass, but also had the second thought” - “why would someone kind enough to chat with me via email and agree to an interview be denying me entry”? I believed it must be 1.) a bug or 2.) that Greg forgot about the moderation thingy and is afraid to admit that he doesn’t know shit about blogs and blog software yet.
Notice how I said yet, is there anything this guy can’t figure out, modify and use for good/evil purposes? Have a good weekend…
