Oh my God, I’ve Become a Blogger
So how is it that someone who has gone on record dozens of times as absolutely despising everything involved with blogging end up sitting in front of a computer monitor hacking away on a stock copy of Wordpress?
I’m not really sure, but I think good old fashioned peer pressure had quite a bit to do with it.
A couple of years ago, I would have never considered it. I was a card-carrying member of the online forum generation. To me, blogging was something geeks with no friends did. Why on earth would I ever want to be a part of that?
But time does have a way of changing things. About a year ago, I realized I was completely burnt out on the forum scene. What had once felt like working as a bartender at the local watering hole, had become the equivalent of running a beer stand at a Metallica concert. Way too much work, a whole lot of noise, and an above average number of people acting like complete idiots.
So I decided to hang it up. I walked away, and never looked back. And it has been the best decision I ever made. Not only has my productivity increased dramatically, I’ve also been able to get back to a point where I truly enjoy what I do for a living.
However, I am now feeling a bit out of the loop. It turns out that during my little sabbatical, every single person I know went out and started a blog. Apparently, I am the only person in the entire SEO/SEM industry who doesn’t have one. Hell, even Dave Naylor has become a blogger. So I figured I might as well jump in and give it a try.
So here I am.
But now comes the hard part. How do you go about creating a blog about search marketing that is truly unique? To be quite honest, I really have no idea. There are so many good blogs already, that it almost seems pointless.
But what I can tell you is what you won’t find in my blog.
If you are looking for a daily collection of every news story that is even remotely related to search, you’re at the wrong place. Gary and Barry have that niche wrapped up. There is no way I could ever be motivated enough to keep up with those two.
If you are looking for a site filled with great tutorials and how-to articles, you are also in the wrong place. There are plenty of young, highly-motivated SEO consultants who are willing to spend a good chunk of their time teaching non-paying newbies the ins and outs of SEO. I’m just not one of them.
However, if you are looking for some honest commentary about issues that have an impact on how we all earn our living on the web, then it’s possible you’ve found the right place. I can’t guarantee for sure, but I can promise that you will never find ridiculous corporate PR bullshit regurgitated on this blog.
If you are the type of a person that is enough of a mindless lemming that you would name your child after a search engine, I can promise you that I will be the first to stand up and tell you that you are a fuckin idiot.

Looking forward to reading something fresh here, Greg!
Fantastic! Can’t wait to see you publicly throw our favorite search engine executives under the bus. Imagine - I used to have to go to conferences to get my fix.
Say is how it is man!
Lovin’ the typography
