Banned from WebmasterWorld

This morning I started getting an XML Parse Error on my WmW feed. I did a quick header check and found:

——————————-
(Response for http://www.webmasterworld.com/)
HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden
Date: Fri, 16 Dec 2005 19:13:44 GMT
Server: Apache/2.0.52
Accept-Ranges: bytes
Content-Length: 3985
Connection: close
Content-Type: text/html
(Repeat request)
Accept-Language: en-us
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1)
——————————–

I guess Brett didn’t like me posting about the fact that he’s cloaking is robots.txt file?

The funny thing about it is the fact that the 403 is serving a linux test page. Come on BT, if you are going to ban me, at least have the balls to print "403 Forbidden" on the page.

Did you get a warm happy feeling?

Not suggesting that this is your situation, but the same thing was happening to me for a long time, then I realized I was logged into WmW from another machine on another IP. When I finally logged off from the other machine, it was fixed.

Getting banned from that place is the best thing that can happen to a webmaster, think of all the free time you will now have to go forth and prosper. The only time I visit forums is during algorithm updates, that is when they are most amusing. ;o

You really ARE a Guerilla marketing genius dude…
Jeremy Z is off Matt’s blog and you’ve got links (without nofollows!) and a nice picture too!

Interesting stuff.. Was he really that upset about it that he had to ban you?

Hardly a loss - there are a few good names already banned from the site. It’s practically a badge of honour these days.

I don’t think the ban is personal, anybody who surf’s with a search engine UA will get banned.

Oil: try using the user agent ‘grnidone’. That’ll get ya banned.

I get ‘warned’ all the time so it’s only a matter of when the hammer will drop at this point

Got something to say?
