Missing Chicago

It’s been a strange couple of days. I keep getting phone calls from people in Chicago asking me what bar I’m hanging out at. Last night, while I was sitting on the couch watching the evening news, I got a phone call from Oilman. He didn’t talk at all. All I could here was loud music and people screaming. (Probably didn’t even know he called me).

Looking to Acquire Poker Sites

Shoe has the latest on PartyPoker and 888’s decision to discontinue their U.S. affiliate programs in light of the recent ant-gambling bill that passed Congress last Friday. I know many people who have spent the last few years earning a living from Poker affiliate revenue are now considering cashing in their chips and getting out.

If you are one of them, drop me an email if you are interested in selling your sites. I got an email yesterday from an ex-client who is looking to purchase poker sites. (There’s always a rebel willing to push the envelope)

Rockstar Site Hacked

I guess somone didn’t like our new guest bloggers. The upside is we now have a great topic for today’s show. :)

Rockstars Cancelled

We had planned on having Gray Wolf on Rockstars tonight, but I was just informed that the WMR studios are shutting down do the approach of tropical storm Ernesto. Hopefully Ernesto will pass through without any problems. We’ll try to get Michael rescheduled for next week

The Dali Lama of Search

It still feels so strange to even say it. Danny’s leaving.

I think many people new that Danny’s relationship with Incisive wasn’t going that well. But I never thought in a million years Incisive would be stupid enough to actually let him go. I think they will learn in a very short amount of time what a huge mistake they made.

Danny is the Dali Lama of search. And where the Dali Lama goes, people will follow. And since the Dali Lama has no non-compete, people will probably be following him to a competitor of some type.

I’m looking forward to see what Danny ends up doing. I know whatever it is, it will be big, and he will continue on as one of the most influential people in the world of search.

My Naïveté

Michael Martinez is of the opinion that most SEOs are clueless idiots who spend far too much time analyzing and chasing links, and not enough time looking at on-page factors.

Apparently, based on his comments in a post from last Thursday , he considers me one of those idiots:

Amish Gokarts and Mini Bike Furniture

On yesterday’s Rockstar show, Todd and I were chatting with Stuntdubl about the ins-and-outs of acquiring older sites/domains for SEO purposes. One of the pre-show questions posted on Stuntdubl’s blog asked about what to do with old links when you purchase a domain.

I thought the N stood for Naylor…

But then again, maybe it stands for Naked….

Dave swears it’s not him. But I’m not convinced.

SES Party Sunday Night

In the official party thread a SEW, Joe posted that there was one private party being hosted on Sunday night. That party is being thrown by a client of mine. It was originally going to be a Speakers reception, but it looks like we’re going to have some additional space available due to the fact that not all speakers will be in town on Sunday.

That being the case, I thought it would be a good idea to open it up to other SES attendees. If you are going to be in town Sunday night, and would like to attend, drop me an email with your contact info and I’ll forward you the details.

Also, if you happen to be a speaker, but didn’t get the initial invite, make sure you let me know so we can add you before we fill the remaining spots.
